*Doesn't she look pretty with her mast and rigging all up?
**This is sort of a sketchy picture taken in complete darkness, still getting use to all the settings on our camera
Got the mast and the main sail up today. Very relieved that this is finally done. I didn't get any pictures of the actually stepping of the mast because it was an 'all hands on deck' sort of ordeal, but we pulled it off without a hitch, which is unusual for this boat. Now Dreamer Blue will be sitting pretty at the dock here for about a week or so until we put some finishing touches on her before we set sail. I must say though, that I am really loving Rock Hall, and now that we are at the dock, we get full power, water, shower facilities and free wifi, it's a little comfortable. Although, it was a bit nippy here today, and after spending all day outside was super looking forward to a hot shower, only to be met by a very cold shower, like polar dip cold. After messing around with it for what seemed like an eternity, I realized that the sink housed hot water, so I gave up and washed my hair in the sink. Not the easiest of tasks but so worth the clean hair, actually feel like a proper woman again. When Erik returned from his shower, I watched him come down the dock expecting some profanity to spew from his mouth, only to see him stretch and yawn in relaxation. Turns out he had a hot shower, 'scorching hot', were his words. Might be showering in the men's room tomorrow.
You don't mind if live my dream through you for a while do you? I'm so jealous, but so happy for you and wish you all the best in your travels. I'm in the middle of re-fitting a 1974 O'Day 27 so I know what you're going through. Actually, I got the link to your blog while searching for a new saildrive. That's my last piece of hardware then I'll be ready to go next season. If you're ever in the Buzzard's Bay (MA) area feel free to drop me a line... Take care, John
ReplyDeleteGreat name "JonnyInTheBucket.
DeleteGood luck on the refit, keep it simple, don't waist anytime or money on things that aren't 100% necessary. I'm just starting to figure that out.
What kind of sail drive are you looking for? What kind of engine do you have?
Hi John,
DeleteIt was really nice to hear from you. Hopefully we'll touch base at some point in the future:)
Good luck on the re-fit:)
I don't think I've ever seen a pic with the sails up. Looking forward to it. After the last couple of years in your yard at home, it has made a significant transformation.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a great start to your trip.
Ryan
