*Relieved after another long day
Today was, well, interesting. We were told that the boat was to be delivered at 9am, so we got up early and headed to Rock Hall for breakfast and to tour around. We found Swan Creek Marina, met the owner, and everything was good to go. The marina owner, Lee, decided to start up the travel lift (the machine that lifts our boat off the truck and into the water), It revved up and started beautifully. Then, we heard a crackling sound, she started to smoke and then, nothing. Anyways, after the smoke cleared, Lee made a couple calls and found us another marina. Perfect. Only this one was about 8 minutes outside of Rock Hall, not exactly ideal when we don’t have a vehicle, but we were going to make it work. Erik, Travis and Lee worked on the travel lift motor for a while to no avail. Lee was very honest and felt completely awful, but said that there was no possible way that the lift would be up and running by the time our boat arrived. Luckily our boat arrived 6 hours late, and in the mean time, Lee called a mechanic, who arrived on the scene and literally had the thing fired up the moment the boat pulled into the yard. So now here we are, at Swan Creek Marina, spending our first night in 3 years on the boat. Feels pretty nice. Mast and sails go up on Monday.
*Sadie, the boat yard dog, obsessed with fetch, until Travis threw the ball and it lodged in the upper branches of a huge oak tree, never to be thrown again.
*A huge thank you to Kendra and Travis for putting up with the craziness of today, and the whole trip actually, you guys rock! Have a safe drive home!
Back where she belongs. In 20 years from now this story will be even better.
