Solomons to The Great Wicomico

Rockin full main and head sail for most of the day.

Huge freighter that came up from behind, we checked them out right away on 'Marine Traffic' and it turns out they are a German vessel measuring 1000ft in length and weighing 86 000t.  We changed course to get out of the way, real fast.

Hoping we can hang up our cold weather gear in the next couple of weeks.

Our calm, quiet anchorage for the night, on some random bay in Virginia, never thought we'd be here!

Great day .  Great sail.  We're getting in to a nice routine for our morning sails.  The alarm goes off at 5:30am, Erik gets up and starts our 'little buddy' propane heater and starts boiling water.  So when I emerge from the v- berth 15 minutes later the cabin's nice and toasty and my warm water with lemon is ready, spoilt aren't I?  We put on a little Jack Johnson while Erik drinks his coffee and I sip my water, then I start preparing our food and snacks for the day.  I also make sure everything down below is secure while Erik is making sure everything is good to go on deck.  Then we pull anchor and take off by 6:45am.  It's quite nice.

We dropped anchor at 3:00pm this afternoon.  Our plans are a little undecided for tomorrow , we are definitely going as far as Deltaville , which is about 25 nautical miles.  But there is a cold front coming in and if we can push it a little farther we might.  We will keep a close eye on the weather and make a decision tomorrow.

  1. Erik really is spoiling you ;) I'm sure you are definitely not regretting buying the "little buddy" now ...looks a little chilly. Cute toque though :) Safe sailing tomorrow!
